Style, Self-Expression, and Success: Giovanna Nicolini
Giovanna Nicolini believes in the power of fashion to help people feel confident and express themselves. That belief led her to pursue a major in Fashion Communications at Iowa State, along with a minor in Public Relations.
Originally from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Nicolini has embraced campus life with energy and purpose. She is an active member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, The Fashion Show, and Innovate 1858, immersing herself in opportunities that connect her with people from all backgrounds and help her grow beyond the classroom.
“I want to try everything I can while I’m here,” she said. “Whether it’s academics or extracurricular activities, I want to make the most of every opportunity.”
Nicolini is focused on gaining hands-on experience in both fashion and public relations through internships, leadership roles, and creative work. Building a strong portfolio is important to her, as is developing a professional network of mentors, professors, and peers.

One of her favorite memories at Iowa State is attending football games at Jack Trice Stadium. She describes the electric atmosphere as something everyone should experience at least once. Another major highlight is her three years working on the Fashion Show, one of the largest student-run fashion shows in the country. She loves the collaboration, creativity, and sense of community the show brings.
“These experiences have made my time at Iowa State truly special and memorable,” she said.
Looking ahead, Nicolini hopes to follow her passion in a career where she can help others feel confident through clothing.
“I want a role that excites and challenges me,” she said. “And I want to work somewhere that shares my values and helps me make a positive impact.”
With the strong foundation and experiences she has gained at Iowa State, Nicolini feels well-prepared to take the next step in her fashion journey.
