Department of Apparel, Events, and Hospitality Management to host week-long celebration March 25-29
Iowa State’s Department of Apparel, Events, and Hospitality Management is hosting AESHM Week March 25-29. Designed to celebrate students, AESHM Week will feature opportunities for both students in the department and the general public.
Monday, March 25: AESHM EIS Day
Prospective students visiting for Experience Iowa State will enjoy special sessions related to majors within the department.

Tuesday, March 26: AESHM Internship Day
- All Day: Internship poster displays will be available for viewing on the ground floor of MacKay Hall
- 4 to 6 p.m.: An Internship Day Panel will be held in the Joan Bice Underwood Tearoom located in 23 MacKay Hall (ground floor). Attendees wil hear about the internship experiences of their peers.

Wednesday, March 27: AESHM Gives Back Day
The more events you attend, the greater your changes of winning AESHM prizes.
- 2 to 3 p.m.: Virtual presentation in the Stepatorium in the Student Innovation Center by Nelson Placa, Senior Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility at Walk Disney World and a graduate of Iowa State’s Hospitality Management doctoral program. For current students in the Department of Apparel, Events, and Hospitality Management
- 3 to 4 p.m.: AESHM Pizza Party, Student Innovation Center Lobby. For current students in the Department of Apparel, Events, and Hospitality Management
- 4 to 6:30 p.m.: Ribbon cutting with the Ames Chamber of Commerce at Innovate 1858 and Sparks Cafe and the Innovate 1858 Maker Market, Student Innovation Center, Open to the Public
Thursday, March 28: AESHM Looks Forward Day
From noon to 4 p.m., guests can attend the Retail Ready Summit either in person or virtually. The event will feature the timely topic of AI in the retail industry. Hear from national and local experts! Open to the public, registration required
Friday, March 29: AESHM Industries Day
- 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.: Student Day in the Joan Bice Underwood Tearoom located in 23 MacKay Hall. Show your student ID and get 50% off! If you choose the lunch special with water, that’s lunch for $4! You can also enter a drawing for a chance to win a free lunch. This is available as dine-in only and reservations are strongly encouraged to make sure you get a spot.
- 1 to 2:30 p.m.: Industry Day Panel in 2155 Marston Hall – learn about entering the apparel, hospitality and event industries from executives and business owners.
- 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.: Industry Meet and Greet for students in 2260 Student Innovation Center
