Responsibilities
My responsibilities at my internship differ from day to day, but I mainly sit in meetings with brides, count items we have in our inventory, count and pack up linens, chargers, votives, etc. for weekend events, fold napkins, help set up events at venues, and loading and unloading our trucks for weekend events.
Accomplishments
The greatest accomplishment that I've achieved during my internship experience was building up knowledge of the design side within the events industry. There is so much more than what people think when it comes to putting a beautiful event together. There is so much precision and concentration involved in order to make an event truly magical. These experiences are going to follow me throughout my professional career, so it's very helpful that I'm having these experiences now!
Learning experience
In my internship, I've learned that there's no such thing as a bad question. When I first started my internship, I was very shy and had a hard time asking questions because I was terrified of looking dumb or like I wasn't paying attention. Luckily, my supervisor, Kelly brought this to my attention within the first 2 weeks of my internship. Because of this, I made sure to ask more questions everyday so I could get the most out of each day that I was working for Kelly!
What advice would you give?
My advice for other students in my major would be to not be afraid of this experience! Before I started this internship, I was really nervous because I had never had a job in a professional setting before. I was also nervous because this was the doorway to my future professional career, and the knowledge that I would get from this internship would help me in the future. You have no reason to be nervous because you are learning! It's okay to not know everything, and it's okay to make mistakes! Take everything one day at a time, and give everyday your best!
