Rachelle Romo
Responsibilities
My responsibilities included maintaining elevated store presentation as well as being able to identify visual related issues, identifying business needs through statistical data, working directly with other store management, assisting in the development of associates, and creating excitement around team and individual accomplishments.
Accomplishments
My greatest accomplishment was my overall growth on reading data reports from the store point of view. I want to be on the data report/buyer side of the fashion world, so being able to learn and translate the weekly data reports for the other staff was very rewarding. I learned a lot about the overall store as well as myself.
Learning experience
The greatest lessons I learned were definitely time management and being confident in my work. I thought I was good at time management before my internship but turns out I was just really good at having a routine. Every day is a new one with new tasks, and that has taught me how to set daily goals for myself as well as what I need to get done before the end of the day. At the beginning, I always asked for permission before starting a new floor set or making some changes; however, I realized I needed to be okay with making decisions and just going for it.
What advice would you give?
I would say be very open to opportunities. I was a little hesitant on this internship just because I was a little younger and was intimidated. However, it really pushed me out of my comfort zone, and I have gained so many new connections this summer. I would also say to take good care of yourself during your internship. I found myself becoming very drained at some points, but I learned what works best for me. I'd recommend the same for everyone else.
