-Working with Catering and Events Coordinator to create floor plans for events taking place in our banquet rooms. -Creating specialized menu cards for each event that took place in the banquet halls, as well as buffet cards specialized per event. -Hostessing for A La Carte dining services, greeting guests and seating them efficiently, while also keeping track of reservations, floor plan, and assigning servers to each member. -Working as receptionist, answering phone calls and transferring to proper areas, handling reservations, to-go orders, event registration, and being the first face that greets guests and members upon arrival.

My greatest accomplishment would have to be when I was in charge of making sure an event was properly set up and decorated for one of our members who was having a dinner party with family and friends. Our catering manager was going to be out that day, and I was tasked with ensuring everything went smoothly. From folding the napkins, creating each plate setting, setting up tables and chairs, ordering and setting up centerpieces, and finding a harpist to play during the dinner. Our member was extremely happy with how everything turned out, and kept on commenting about it for the next few days.

What advice would you give?

When it comes to your internship experience, don't be afraid to sort of help drive what you end up doing. I offered to help with things that weren't really expected of me to do, and ended up learning so much more because of that. Taking the time to talk to the people you work with, and learning more about them personally and what brought them to where they are now, can help you understand and carve out your own path for your future down the line. Don't be afraid to make mistakes, but be ready to fix them when you do and learn from it as much as you can.
