Responsibilities
My responsibilities during my internship include being a sales supervisor on duty during my shifts, merchandising the store with the Lucky Brand Merchandising guide for the summer season which include changing mannequins, display windows, rearranging table layouts and wall layouts to better display new merchandise. We also process shipment and work it into the walls making sure all the items follow a coherent color scheme and theme.
Accomplishments
My greatest accomplishment during my internship experience would be changing mannequins to how I would like to dress them which have increased our daily sales. We normally follow a guideline given from the company so this is only necessary when we do not have the same products from the guide and we get free range dressing the mannequins. This is an accomplishment to me because many people who come into the store to shop were inspired by my mannequin looks and they bought a lot of pieces worn on the mannequins. We were consistently changing the mannequins everyday because people were buying their complete outfits!
Learning experience
The greatest lesson I learned from my internship experience is that most things are fixable. I found myself always needing reassurance from my supervisors because I didn’t want to be wrong or make a mistake and I just wanted approval from them on everything. Getting more comfortable at my internship got me to start doing things more confidently and it made my time there better. I found myself understanding that mistakes are bound to happen and it wasn’t going to burn the store down or be the end of the world. So in the end, don’t be too hard on yourself.
What advice would you give?
My advice to future students is to connect with people you meet to build your network because you never know what connections and opportunities will be ahead! Also, take on the opportunities that are presented to you because you will always takeaway something valuable from it!
