Responsibilities
As a Front Office Intern at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center I have done a little bit of everything in the Front Office. I have been involved with staff meetings and a part of the decision making process. As a front desk agent, providing a warm welcome and bidding a guest a fond farewell has made guests feel right at home. I have learned the computer system and all aspects of the check in and out process. As a shuttle driver, I have gotten guests to where they need to be, whether it has been for a business meeting or just to the train station for a fun day downtown Chicago. The Westin staff has been so welcoming and helpful and provided me with their own experiences and knowledge. I have enjoyed my invaluable internship experience this summer and am grateful to have expanded on my skills and knowledge of the industry. This experience has made me excited about my future in hospitality.
Accomplishments
Expanding my knowledge of the hotel industry has been rewarding and fun. Prior to this experience I haven't worked in hotels before so all of the knowledge and experience that I have gained in the short amount of time here has been awesome. The people I have met and obstacles we have overcome are something I'll never forget. Learning from and working alongside the great team that they have at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center has been a dream true. This experience has added to my industry knowledge and has given me a direction for my career path.
