My responsibilities included: - Researching various musical & performing artists - Branding/merchandising deals - Pulling imagery for pitch decks - Market research for various hospitality institutions (coffee shops) - Coming up with ideas for collaborations - Thinking of creative campaigns for a new underwear company - Keeping comprehensive files of ongoing industry outlooks - Researching new talent
My greatest accomplishment would be that Tess has included some of my ideas into the final presentations for investors. Whether it is images I have found, mood boards, market stats, and ad/branding campaigns. I can see a little part of me in almost all of the projects we worked on. I also have been able to really sharpen my creative eye and learn how to execute it into the physical space.
A consistent theme I am constantly improving on is time management, however I really had to step it up in this role because of the time differences. Some were on the west coast, and some were on the east. Another lesson I have learned throughout this whole experience, is to be a sponge! Let people share things and know that it is okay not to have immediate feedback. Listen and think about it, then provide helpful commentary. Last thing is to trust your gut with people! If you feel the good vibes someone brings to the table, hold on to them!
What advice would you give?
My advice would have to be to start small. It can feel really overwhelming to start looking for internships, especially if you're not exactly sure what you want to do. My advice would be to pay attention to things that you have questions about, or things that inspire/intrigue you. See if you can find the people behind some of those things catching your interest. Then, write their name down somewhere and where they're based. Then you have a list to reference later. Next piece of advice is to not let fear get in your way! Reach out to people and be honest about where you stand. Most of the time (especially creatives) love hearing their work means something to someone. So use email, Instagram, maybe even twitter! What the worst that can happen?
