Jacob Wallace
Responsibilities
I successfully resolved guest issues including billing discrepancies, property concerns and service issues. I also multi-tasked as a Front Office/Reservations representative at the same time.I generated information packets, including sales materials and property information for guests as well as gained knowledge about Wyndham Worldwide and the vacation rental industry. I also regularly conducted inspections of property units to ensure the quality and cleanliness. This also involved checking for any damages or maintenance needs of the owners' properties.
Accomplishments
I made this internship way more than a job or class. I shadowed a lot of different departments of the vacation rentals industry and have successfully gained insight into potential careers I might be interested in pursuing. I also put in a lot of volunteer hours while being here. Aside from these things, I also hiked thousands of feet, tubed the river, seen the hot springs, and explored new cities. My greatest accomplishment was going above and beyond for this internship.
What advice would you give?
Always remember to be yourself. It is important to show respect to others and be courteous, professional and polite. However, remember that you don't have to put on a show. People will love you for you. The first day of work I showed up in a very business appropriate floral print blazer and a work-appropriate face of makeup. I immediately earned the respect from many of my coworkers and company's owners for just being authentically me and not shying away from expressing myself.
