Responsibilities

During this internship, I have reached out to vendors for donations and to see if they want to attend the event as a commodity group. I have also reached out to companies that have donated food or swag in the past to see if they would be willing to donate again. I have worked with ISU printing services to create a save-the-date, event flyer, and other signage for the event day. I will work with volunteers to ensure coverage for all areas. I have also sent out flyers for the event to surrounding areas to promote the event. Day of I will be the head person who makes sure the event runs smoothly and if there are any challenges, I will work to correct them.

Accomplishments

I would say my most significant accomplishment during this internship was stepping out of my comfort zone and growing my event planning skills immensely!

Learning experience

One of my greatest lessons is that planning events takes a team. Being able to divide each task to someone on the team who excels in that department can be extremely helpful. I also learned that you can make mistakes, but you need to be able to fix them quickly and efficiently.

What advice would you give?

Step outside your comfort zone! I have learned so much this semester by stepping outside my comfort zone and pushing myself to do so. Also, be proud of yourself always!
