Being a wedding/event intern at Wedicity, there are many responsibilities. Some include: Coordination of vendor information and profiles in Aisle Planner, research proper vendors based on style, fit and budget parameters for client contracts, attend wedding rehearsal and assist with all rehearsal needs including wedding party timelines, tips and information. I also manage final orders and vendor payments, cross reference all orders with guests counts and event needs and maintain all client communications via phone and email to provide advice, answer etiquette and planning questions. In addition, I am in charge of ensuring all payments are paid by the client prior to wedding day, manage final timeline and distribute to vendors and wedding party accordingly. Part of my responsibilities are also assist with Wedding Day Management on-site to include couple check-in, vendor coordination, floral assistance and overall conduct all reception details.
My greatest accomplish during my internship experience is to be able to execute an entire event from the start of the planning process to the finish. Learning all of the skills it takes will be very beneficial for the future of my event planning career.
For my internship experience, I've learned a lot. One takeaway that I have is the importance of networking and making connections. Whether it be other interns, employees, vendors, or senior employees, it's important to take advantage of all the opportunities there is to meet people. This will really help broaden your professional network and can make lasting memories. I've also learned to take risks and not be afraid to try something new. For my internship, I moved to Chicago by myself not knowing a lot of people. I was very nervous, but it ended up being such an amazing and cool experience. I was able to meet so many people and make so many memories. I also had very little professional experience coming in as well, but keep in mind you aren't expected to know everything going in to an internship, you are there to learn.
What advice would you give?
My advice is to be your true self and go after your own goals. Don't let other people's journey or opinions affect you. Also, don't be afraid to get out of your comfort zone. For my internship, I moved to a completely new city by myself and it turned out to be the best experience I've ever had.
