Interning with Jevon Terance has been an amazing experience. I have been able to work on multiple projects and learn about the overall business of running your own brand. My responsibilities for the new activewear collection include trend forecasting, sewing new looks, and helping with photoshoots and models. Some of my other daily responsibilities are helping with mask production for COVID-19 and fulfilling those orders, dressing mannequins, running the pop-up shop, and assisting with alterations and creating new pieces.

I have sewn a lot of biker shorts for the upcoming activewear collection and a few custom pieces. Seeing the customer's faces and excitement brings me joy because I was able to create an outfit for them. We are also working on planning a fashion show on a rooftop of a new local hotel. After all of our planning and hard work, it will be incredible to see the final product.

Learning experience

Always compete with yourself! Push yourself to be your best and to create the next best thing! Don't compare yourself to others and ask yourself why you didn't create that because you will get lost in other people's aesthetic rather than your own.

What advice would you give?

When starting your internship, come in with a positive attitude and be yourself. Every day has gone by so fast for me because I love what I am doing and excited for what's to come!
