Responsibilities

During my internship, my responsibilities included re-creating the website/keep up to date weekly, checking customers out, learning a new POS system, re-merchandising, steaming, tagging new clothes/put new garments into the POS system, and making sure shipments are correct with the garments that are received in store from what is ordered. With the boutique getting new shipments weekly, there is always something that needs to be done when working on a day to day basis.

Accomplishments

During my internship experience, my greatest accomplishment was that I re-created the website. This was a big accomplishment/project for myself because I learned how to use the software, but I also had fun when creating the template. As this was a challenging process, I figured out and designed the complete website within about 2 weeks. Youtube became a great resource for myself as I found myself "stuck" at different steps throughout the process. Overall, this was a great learning experience.

Learning experience

Throughout my internship experience, my greatest lesson learned is to have a positive attitude. When taking on multiple responsibilities/tasks throughout your time, always go in open-minded and have a positive attitude. Having a positive attitude throughout your experience will only excel you further to your end goal, which is to have a career path ready for yourself. Whether or not your internship is a career you see yourself in, the opportunity is still getting you closer, as you can narrow down your options even further.

What advice would you give?

For future students within the AMD major, I would advise yourself to be open to new possibilities. When accepting an internship, you will be given responsibilities that you might not be too familiar with. Take on the task strong and open-minded, because it could only lead you further to what you want to potentially do one day.
