Responsibilities

I served as the Lead Intern on this project. My main task was filling multiple locations with student interns and volunteers through multiple volunteer service available in Story County. Additionally, I developed and led three docent trainings, in order to teach the staff how to lead an appropriate tour.

Accomplishments

My biggest accomplishment so far was leading the docent trainings. Each training was an hour, and I really enjoyed getting to interact with all of the volunteers. Writing a one hour speech is a lot easier when you are extremely invested in the topic.

What advice would you give?

When I first came to Iowa State, I had my heart set on some fabulous, out of state internship experience. As I am finishing up fall of my senior year, I have completed three in state internships! Not everyone can afford the time or money to have an out of state, unpaid internship. I just want to stress how many great opportunities there are in our community. They are there for people who are willing to take them! Ames has an amazing community centered around art, and there are lots of great opportunities within that community.
