Working closely with the Rentals and Sales Coordinator by learning set up, creating content for websites incoming clients, and working closely with vendors. You also get involved a lot in ZooBrew and becoming a bar captain every night while that event goes on. Helping with special events, like galas and sponsored events for the public. Being able to create and tear down a set up in one day, then using your hospitality experience during the event to create the right atmosphere for the client and guests.
Learning how everyone clicks and works together, and making it my own goal to be as flexible with that and make it easier for everyone else. Then taking responsibility for things I have never done before and executing them as well as they could have been done. For example, creating all the signage and name cards/themed process throughout the event for the 2018 Zoobilation in June was one of the most creative things I have done for an event so far, and it was amazing!
What advice would you give?
This internship is a lot of work, but it will teach you how to work hard, and learn on your toes. It has taught me how to manage any kind of situation and think of the best scenario possible and run with that plan, until it needs to be changed again. Everything in Events are not going to go as planned, and you will have to change it up, and making it your priority to be prepared for everything is something that everyone should learn how to do.
