Responsibilities

My responsibilities as Market and Competitor Analysis Intern include defining the MUQIN target market, creating a market and competitor analysis research paper, creating a SWOT analysis for the MUQIN brand as well as some of their competitors, and assisting in creating promotional advertisements.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment from this internships so far would be creating a complete research analysis of the MUQIN brand. Through this process I was able to learn more about all of the research that goes into the design process. Up until this point of my college career I have been able to make up imaginary target markets to fit what I want to design. In the industry designers must be able to design based around these very detailed target markets. Being able to build this skill has been very valuable and pushed me to be a better designer.

Learning experience

The greatest lessons I have learned are how to communicate professionally. This skill is something that comes with practice and getting comfortable with asking for help in a professional tone is a very necessary skill.

What advice would you give?

My advice for future students is don't be afraid to fail and get comfortable with the idea of failure. It has taken me countless horrible designs to get to one good one. Every time I mess something up it is an opportunity to learn. This idea is applicable to much more than just design. Nobody ever created something remarkable without falling on their face first.
