AESHM 365 course is first in the College of Human Sciences to be certified by Quality Matters

Eric Olson’s Event, Hospitality, and Apparel/Retail Risk Management (AESHM 365) course is the first course in the College of Human Sciences that uses the new Iowa State University course template to be certified by Quality Matters. The certification indicates the online course was reviewed by a panel of course design experts and found to meet QM standards for excellence. Only a handful of Iowa State courses have earned this certification to date. Olson, an associate professor and program director of the event management degree program, developed the course in collaboration with Lesya Hassall in the Center for Teaching Excellence and the online and distance learning support staff in the College of Human Sciences.

The course will be offered during the summer 2021 term. It focuses on management of hazards and risks in the planning, design, operation, and evaluation stages of events, hospitality organizations, and apparel/retail environments. Discussion topics include COVID-19 response and recovery plans for event, hospitality, and retail organizations.
